Dumb phones without android

Hey all,

I’ve on and off searched for a dumb phone the last couple years, but whenever i looked, they all ran android. i Do Not trust google. my husband is now also considering moving to a dumb phone, so my search has been reignited. does anyone know of any that run just a basic OS like old ones used to, but still work with modern carriers? (would prefer to use tello but open to others). if they’ve gotta run a “modern” OS, how about one that runs lineageOS or something similar? or is at least able to run it, i doubt any would come with it installed

This is difficult, I personally don't know any modern Dumb Phones that don't run any sort of Android on it, except Nokia's KaiOS which is a continuation of FirefoxOS. But I can say that a good portion of them run a highly Customized Android Build stripped out of many Components including Google Services. Meaning they are similar to LineageOS.

If you are European, the Nokia 105 runs its own operating system, and would have been quite at home twenty years ago. It cannot install applications at all and has no camera. Despite being the cheapest mobile on offer today as far as I know, it is as durable as its name suggests; I have literally hurled it against a concrete wall without it sustaining any damages at all. If you are US American and do not use Verizon, the MP02 A, although quite dear, would appear fit for purpose, but I have not used it myself and cannot vouch for it. Satellite phones cost a lot, but work worldwide, and some exist which run their own, simplistic OS, again unable to install applications. Consider also whether you even need a mobile phone. Landlines still exist and are quite cheap.
