What are your favorite independent forums? Besides this one of course! Ever since I found some of these, I have not felt tempted at all to go back to Reddit. Since many of us are likely to want to avoid Reddit, I figured we could share what other places we like to hang out at.
There are my favorite:
Techlore Forum is a forum for the Techlore YouTube channel, focusing on digital privacy and security. He's fostered a great community that's been around since like 2022!
Privacy Guides Community is the forum for the Privacy Guides website. They're also focused on privacy and security, but the forum also collaborates on decisions to the website as well. They work together to develop the Privacy Guides as a resource.
Ars Technica's forum is one I'm new to, but it's based because this place is ancient. Like, if you're interested old school forums, this place is literally old school. They have users who have been around for over 20 years! If you know Ars Technica you know this is a tech news website, so the forum is tech focused but not privacy focused.
Ok, I thought I had more to share. I dig this forum because it can be more general, but I am a nerd at heart.
For German speaking furries (which I know is likely a tiny to non-existant demographic here), I can highly recommend Furbase. It's an incredibly active community with a very solid website that even hosts in-person events throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
@Crazyroostereye Melonland has sent me on a rabbit hole that lasted the whole day and is likely going to continue until at least the end of the week. Thank you! My eyes are burning from staring at a screen for hours and my seating position once again resembles a shrimp. However, I am VERY entertained.
