Talk about Linux, macOS, Windows, maybe TempleOS?

Also gentoo install, do you have a week of free time to compile your Browser? /Joking
Yes to both :?
Though I'd get the binary for the browser if i can, I'm not that much a masochist >>

And yes, I do have a weird way of booting up sway
It's rather primitive admittedly, hence why I'm considering that gentoo install
This alpine install is held together by twigs (I do love alpine, I Just kinda wanna try compiling XD)
You should have a cup of tea today!
But I hope your day is great no matter what <3

Currently working on a whole bunch of hot corner updates! I currently have multiple hot corners as well as per-monitor hot corner settings working on a feature branch. I also have an experimental branch where I'm working on adding customizable shell commands to hot corners so you can make them do whatever you want. Here's my PR though if anyone is curious! https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri/pull/2108

Fireye wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 7:39 pm I used to use hyprland but left when I saw the whole freedesktop situation with the lead dev. Super icky stuff; just can't get behind that kind of behavior. Solid WM though!
I heard about it. I hate Software Project Communities, there are many great out there but good god I just like the Software, please don't make me automatically subscribe to your Ideology just for using it.

But in general the Hyprland Incident seemed to me as a Edgy Humour making fun of Pronouns thing. Definitely Improper and deservedly Criticised, as I think the Dev doesn't know the Scale of his Project and the expected Professionalism that goes with it. But more of a Joke that went wrong, then actual I'll content.

Tho please Correct me if I am wrong, the last news I kept up with was, the Pronoun thing of renaming a Person in the Discord rudely resulting to the kick out in the Wayland Project. In very short.
Yeah no the incident itself was definitely bad, but what really nailed the coffin was varxy's reaction to the whole thing. The guy just plain power tripped/antagonized the freedesktop people for reminding him of that professionalism, and proceeded to trash them on his blog rather than take the criticism constructively, which is just a huge red flag in my books. Here's a good summary of the whole chain of events that links to all the relevant emails and blog posts. https://drewdevault.com/2024/04/09/2024 ... ement.html

Hyprland is solid software but if this is the guy in charge of it, i'm not exactly optimistic about its direction, and I'm certainly not comfortable dailying or contributing to it.

I'm curious to try dynamic tiler, and if hyprland is run by a more immature person, It might behoove me to find another one!

I've been using KDE Plasma for most of my time with Linux at this point. I do really like GNOME and think it's slick as heck. However, there are some features that I would like to have and I don't want to have to trust a GNOME extension. Plasma gives me everything I'm looking for, helps me solve my problems because so much more is represented graphically, and it's all supported first party. And they've been which to adopt new technologies like Wayland, HDR, and better color management. I dig it.

If you're on the traditional WM side of things (over tiling) its hard to go wrong with plasma lmao. What's your take on cosmic?

I paraphrased it a bit to hard in my Description sorry, Yeah it was quite Unprofessional of the Dev. Wouldn't contribute to it either, If I were a dev. I am in the process of moving away from it, but it is still the most Mature WM in the Wayland space as far as I have experienced. But the others are catching up and are at a level I am able to comfortably use.

While I haven't used the Hot Corner in the slights except when accidentally hitting it, this looks awesome. I would love to be able to set a custom command to my Hot corner.
I am Human, and everyone who says otherwise is lying.
