A Minecraft Movie (spoilers!!)

I watched the Minecraft movie in theaters not too long ago… what are your thoughts??
Here are mine:
While it is a fun movie, it’s not a good one. It’s very clearly a cheap kids movie rather than a quality one. Watching it with friends is a fun experience, especially if you and your friends play Minecraft and nitpick the things that don’t make sense.
The introduction sequence felt very rushed and cheap. Jack Black, who played “Steve” (I don’t believe he is the real Steve though, so I will be putting the name in quotes), tells the story of how he got into the overworld rather than showing the audience (although I will say, when he said “as a child, I yearned for the mines”, it got a laugh out of me).
The choices of conflict made little sense to me. If “Steve” has defeated the Enderdragon (as seen with the elytra he has), then why are Piglins his biggest problem? Why did they make a new villainess rather than take another mob that could be seen as a genuine threat (the warden?)?
Overall, it’s clear that the studio is planning to make a series out of this. The post credits scene introduces “Alex”, so maybe the franchise will get better as more movies come out. I’m worried for the future generations that will think this is peak cinema.
