Self watering plants

I recently got a couple of self-watering plants and it has been so cool! I don't know how self-watering is seen in the plant community, but I like that I can have plants where I can clearly tell when to add more water and I can see how they drink up over the course of the week. These two plants aren't the only ones I have, so I do have a few I have to actually take care of.

This one is the one I have, but I have seen others in Home Depot and similar type places. This design has the plant essentially drink water that soaks up a string into the bottom of the grower pot. Then you just watch the water level through a little window in the container and refill when its close to empty.

Ohh interesting! That seems similar to stacking two terracotta pots in the ground with a hole in the top poking out of the soil, and then you fill that up with water and it slowly seeps through the terracotta. I wish there was a version of that for houseplants, to be honest. Some of my plants prefer to stay in moist soil and it's hard when it so warm!
