hii :D im thursday, i typically go by some variation of thursdayrain online (whatever isnt taken lol) decided to start a topic for this cause its pretty longgg sorry >_<

why am i here?
i actually made this account 8 months ago :0 - i started learning about and exploring the indie web back in Nov 2024, even teaching myself html/css again with the hopes of builiding a website of my own, but in Feb 2025 my college studies became a lot more intense and i was forced to devote most of my time to that >:/ i was going thru my saved passwords on the family laptop (my pc arrives tomorrow!) just now when i remembered this place :D

ive became increasingly paranoid over the summer about, well, the everything that is going on rn 0_0 the youtube algorithm situation specifically has brought me back to these online spaces. i wont go into it all rn but let me tell you. i have a lot of thoughts. hopefully rengaging with indie web spaces online again will keep me from bothering my gf whos just as prone to paranoia as i am lmao

i am by no means technogical knowledgable, i am making it all up as i go along, but i am more than willing to learn B)

now for the actually fun and interesting part
i am currently a social sciences student at college with plans to go to uni and study archaeology B) i love x-men comics, gaming, creating art (esp w/ watercolours), sci-fi/fantasy novels, horror media, zines, playing the drums/bass guitar, going to gigs, messing around with html, and exploring peoples cool websites :3 i am very socially inexperienced online so i apologise if i come on strong

i am autistic (the hyperverbalism is on full display here), experience frequent vestibular migrianes, and have a currently undiagnosed chronic illness yippee so while the internet is a big outlet for me, i may go offline for very long periods of time, and am incredibly prone to forgetting about things, so apologises if i abandon this place by accident

scrolling around i recognise a few users from starsubculture?! i got logged out a few months ago n whenever i try to get back in it just says "site inactive". did we ever resolve the temu bot problem? fun fact i was actually the one that started to forum topic about it.... luvstarkei never did get back to me :/

Real sad to see starsubculture go down though, it was such a neat little community. I just wish luvstar open sourced the thing so the community could help maintain it instead of just flat out dropping it. Like I have ADHD, I get it. But you have to know yourself and if you can't maintain something, take steps to remedy that rather than just burning out repeatedly. That was actually one of the main inspirations for me to start my open source game dev webring (https://gdt.fireye.coffee), as if you're creating an online community it just makes so much sense to let users contribute and help build their community up themselves rather than having one person shoulder the whole burden of maintanence upkeep and growth.

This forum is pretty great though, very small town vibes which is super nice.

yeah i remember there were talks of setting up a mod team before the site imploded, but no-one could get thru to luvstar its such a shame too, the communtiy there was really cool - it was one of the first places in years i actually felt comfortable sharing art, and exploring peoples sites was always a fun n inspiring time. i think the lack of communication heavily contributed to the site going down, as you said if you yourself know you cant maintain something, at least tell the community rather than pretending nothing happened

but im happy to be here! seems like a cool place to be
