I obviously care a lot about privacy, so here is a clear outline of what is collected when you use my website. I've included the benefits as well as the risks so you can make informed decisions. I have structured it to match the categories of the Privacy Visualizer in hopes that it catches on.

- Forum posts: Anything you post on the forum is stored in a database for the function of the forum. You may delete anything you post at anytime, and data will be deleted immediately from the server.

 

Search: No data is collected.
 

Browsing:
 - Cookies: There are 3 cookies that are used on the forum exclusively:
    1. A cookie that contains an anonymous session identifier, automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software.
    2. A cookie that contains a user identifier when you sign into your account. This makes the "remember me" function work.
    3. A cookie that contains when you browse the forum, including which topics have been read. This is used to improve the user experience.

Identifiers:
 - IP address:
Automatically logged when you connect to any page on this website. IP addresses are only used to ban users by IP who break the rules in the forum. This data is only retained for 30 days.
 - Forum identifiers:
    1. User name:
Used to sign in, identify who you are on the forum.
    2. Password: Used to sign in. Your password is hashed, and therefore cannot be seen by anyone. For security, you are required to have a password that is more than 12 characters in length, and use a lowercase, uppercase, number and symbol. In the event of a data breach, your password would remain hashed, therefore secured.
    3. Email address: Used to create an account. Can also be used to recover your account if you forget your password. This information is not hashed, so in the event of a data breach, your email would be visible.
If you delete your account, posts will remain on the forum, but any of the above identifiers will be removed immediately.

Other data: No data is collected.

 

 

Any non-public information that is collected is never shared with anyone unless required by law. Any public information will be available to anyone to see.
