Re: IRC

I would be in favor of an IRC channel. An XMPP chat would also suffice.

Re: Homeserver/homelab thread

My server Farnsworth just runs Jellyfin. The family uses it to stream our old DVD collection, because we don't have DVD players anymore. The OS is GNU Guix System and you can find the server config on Codeberg.

Re: What phone are you using?

Western Electric 2500 hooked up to a Grandstream HT802 ATA. Service provided by JMP. SMS/MMS is handled by JMP using the XMPP client Dino.

Mobile device (doesn't leave the house): Pixel 4a with (now defunct) DivestOS.

To complete the 80's look, I got a Rolodex to sit next to the phone.

Re: 2-factor auth

As it's advisable to keep password database and 2FA tokens separate, I'd go with an app dedicated to 2FA. For GNU/Linux, GNOME has an app called Authenticator.

Re: Introduce yourself!

I'm Kolev. I dress Amish to keep people from assuming I use their bad technology. My phone is a Western Electric 2500 telephone connected to a Grandstream HT802 ATA, next to a Rolodex. My alarm clock is analog. My computer is a ThinkPad X200s running GNU Boot and GNU Guix System. I carry a fountain ...
