So you like RSS?

I also highly encourage adding Youtube Channels or tumblr blogs /subreddits/bsky/mastodon accounts to not get caught in the infinite scroll! Other than that I use it to follow my friends' goodreads activity, manga releases, website feeds, a longform journalism group and — of course — this and ...

Based writer and thinker, good recommendation! I didn't know he was part of the EFF!

Re: YouTube alternatives

RE: PeerTube

Kind of? From what I've seen it seems like most of the PeerTube instances look similar and don't change much from what I assume to be the vanilla software. The main thing I would look for is whether other content I want to watch federates to that instance. For example, if I make an ...

Re: YouTube alternatives

If anyone is looking into PeerTube instances for a place to make an account, here are a few I came across that seem to have decent amount of content. Remember that on the fediverse you can see content from all of these instances from one place, so you don't need to check each one. It's like ...

Re: YouTube alternatives

There definitely is an expectation that will need to change among viewers and creators to see a successful alternative I think. I happily subscribe to Nebula and could even use it as a YouTube replacement if I needed to. Paying $60 a year for like 60-80% of the type of content I watch on YouTube so ...

Re: I made my first bootleg CD!

Based. I've done a similar move in my life where I am trying to get all the music that is special to me on CD so I can never lose it. Super fun project you've started!

Re: YouTube alternatives

I saw this guys video about this today! Yes, I think it's good to be thinking about alternatives and I'm fine using them, though convenience has kept me mostly on YouTube.

For self-preservation reasons I think creators should diversity if they're able to. I think most know that, which is way things ...

Re: DEs and WMs Opinions and Experiances

Fedora always is making spins, aren't they
(I wonder if they have a sway spin >>, might be worth it to take a pitstop in fedora land to see how it's going!)

Not only do they have a Fedora Sway spin , they also have a Fedora Sway Atomic spin if you want to use it with all the atomic ...

Re: DEs and WMs Opinions and Experiances

If you're on the traditional WM side of things (over tiling) its hard to go wrong with plasma lmao. What's your take on cosmic?

I think COSMIC looks awesome, but I haven't tried it yet. I actually just dug my old laptops out from storage so I may take Fedora COSMIC for a spin to see how it ...

Re: Favorite Pens

I was really into pens in high school when I needed them more, but eventually I settled into a favorite. For the longest time I liked the Pilot Precise V5 that was mentioned already. Then I felt that the Pilot G2 was the best balance of good dark ink without the smudginess. Then I saw that the Pen ...
