redact.dev -- Deleting Your Digital Footprint

Post by CyberWallflower908 »

Hey there - I recently came across the YT Channel and I'm an instant fan!

I've been in tech for 15 years, though recently diving much deeper into all things security because it's becoming a real scary world out there...

Anyways - I watched a video today interviewing the CEO of https://redact.dev/ and they seem to be a privacy-first focused company, and seems really passionate about protecting our future selves against our past decisions.

This looks amazing - but I'd love for others to jump in and share their thoughts. What's great or not so great about this? or is something screaming STAY AWAY!!

I was initially interested in Delete Me, which is how I found this channel and it was a major letdown in learning more! But glad I researched first.

Thanks all! :)

I think I know the Techlore video you saw this from! While I haven't watched the video, I understand that this is a fairly new company so their service is one to watch. That being said I do personally trust Henry from Techlore and he's been making videos about digital privacy and digital rights for years at this point.

Redact.dev is also a sponsor of Techlore. While normally that is sus (and I don't blame you for thinking that), in this case Techlore does actually vet services before considering them as sponsors. Below is his policy for accepting sponsorships.

Hope this gives a little more color.

They look like they are decent, I am not sure how they Delete you old Posts. Like do they do just an API / Visual Delete which Deletes the Post for Everyone, but the Company. Or do they put legal Requests in to enforce the Company to scrub it.

But besides that they seem like an easy quick service to get rid of old Accounts and Scrub the Data on them. Even if it is only for Public Eye wiped.
I am Human, and everyone who says otherwise is lying.
