controllers

Post by trafficone »

When we're getting, the piece we want to think of least is the connection between our fingers and the game. To accomplish this, game controllers in the current era of gaming can have more processing power than some retro consoles. With features like apacitive joysticks, gyro controls, and customizability as default, the controller market is hotter than ever.

What controller are you using and what do you like about it? Even if it's keyboard and mouse, or the controller that came with your console, it adds to the discussion to share your opinion.

To kick off the conversation, I've been using a HORI wired Switch controller ever since my Steam controller started getting analog stick drift. I was a huge fan of the Steam controller for its gyro controls, customizability, and the left touchpad which I used to create context menus for games that expect you to be using a keyboard.

The Switch controller is a far cry from what I was using. Even though Steam makes controller customization simple, I'm missing out on a lot of features I got used to.

I just stick to using an XBOX game-pad. it works great for me! just missing out on some gyro features unfortunately. I did try to use Nintendo's Official pro controller on steam, and it had some dead-zone issues, for some reason. I could never figure out what honestly. though I would be lying if I at least wasn't thinking about trying one of those steam controller's. they're just so expensive ;-;.

I still us my XBOX 360 Controllers when I use a Controllers on my PC, but for the most part I am a Keyboard and Maus kind of Guy. But I did get a sense new Technologies with my Steam Deck, which Provides many of the new Features. Which in Games like Hi Fi Rush really make it more Immersive.

Right now, I’m using an 8Bitdo Ultimate controller I received as a gift, and I use the USB-C wired connection, not the Bluetooth. I can’t really compare it to other controllers used for PC, because I’m typically a keyboard and mouse player on PC (I usually get the console ports of games, and the PC games I play are really meant for mouse and keyboard). I used to use an Xbox 360 controller for emulation, that went OK but it wasn’t perfect. The 8Bitdo doesn’t present any hiccups or difficulties, so I’m happy with it. I will say I miss the weight and feel of my PS3 controllers. Are controllers meant to feel lightweight, now? It works well for the 2D action and bullet hell game that is Cult of the Lamb and has no stick drift whatsoever.
