I have had 2 flip phones: the TCL flip 2 and the CAT S22. I hate the S22. It has a really poor build quality and subpar components on it. The keyboard feels so bad to type on. My TCL, which is way cheaper than the CAT, is the better flip phone in almost every way. Only thing is that I need to have no browser on my phones. I am too addicted with poor impulse control atm, so neither device is good enough for my needs.
I have rooted my old motorola moto x4 to dumb it down to only have texts, calls, podcasts, and navigation. Even with this, I still hate having it in my pocket. This is what I will be running until I get my lightphone 3, which I am super excited for.

Re: What phone are you using?
Currently i'm using a oneplus 9 pro from 2021.
But i dont like oneplus anymore, since there OS became more buggier over time, and the brand is completely destroyed.
If that phone dies sometime soon, (of which i hope that will be very soon) i want to go for a Fairphone 5 since these are highly repairable, and get updates for 8 years. I always wanted a phone that can be repaired really easily.

I am currently running a Pixel 7 loaded with GrapheneOS and Pro launcher to simplify my Home Screen.
I have seen the Fairphones around, my personal experience isn't that great. The Phones given they're Price class are usually just that much worse which is huge turndown, but I could be wrong nowadays my experience is from the Fairphone 3. Also, there were supply Issues with replacement parts when my Sister owned one.loebas wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 2:52 pm i want to go for a Fairphone 5 since these are highly repairable

Pixel 6A with GrapheneOS and OLauncher. Got it a couple years ago to replace my previous phone which over the years got enough damage that fixing it would cost as much as a new one.
I've had a proper dumbphone in the last few years as well, while said previous phone was being fixed, but it was way too much of a hassle getting authentication codes etc. via text all the time instead of just opening an app, and I didn't want to spend lots of money to get a dumbphone with Android. Props to the people for whom it works, though.

ZFlip 3 at the moment, I love how compact it is, dumbphones dont really appeal to me massively, I need ways to speak to my family and friends beyond sms because they all us social networking a lot more than me, I'd be isolating myself. Also its always useful to have maps and being able to take pictures at a moments notice.
I'd like to get a newer flip, maybe the 7 but I also don't want android anymore and I doubt Graphene supports a 2nd screen so I'm stuck right now. Also considering and nothing but they seem pretty lack luster. Its scary how bad Samsung has been getting of late, they used to be a real company that cared but I just love the form factor too much and other flips dont have the same appeal to me, guess im still a Samsung fanboy at heart.

I use iPhone SE. Is it bad for my privacy? Probably. But there's not much choice I have. Why? Well... I have a genetic hand disfigurement - short and slightly deformed fingers. It pretty much limits me to using only tablets and phones with screens under 4 inches (or with buttons). And I'd really like to use a dumb phone, but I'm at university and to study I need a damn smartphone to be online on the go...

Re: What phone are you using?
I use a Samsung Galaxy A51, used to be my dad's before my younger brother lost it... and then found it again after my dad had bought a brand new phone. I'm overall pretty good with screentime I think, on average I spend an hour and a half on it a day, with most of the activity being just from listening to YouTube Music (because my MP3 player doesn't have Bluetooth, and as much as I like wired headphones if I'm moving about a lot at a fairly rapid pace it could get hooked onto something and rip out of the player, potentially even break).
Funnily enough, it's my laptop that's more addicting to me as of now. I'd started slowly weaning off YouTube and not scrolling through X or Reddit as much, but now it's mostly looking through stuff I found on forums that I thought was really cool, like Let's Plays from, say, 2011.

Just did some research on the Light Phone III (and by that I mean I just did a quick Google search and read the company's webpage on the III), it is small like you said. My main concern, though, is that Foxscribe won't be able to get all he (she?) needs from it because of "I'm at university and to study I need a damn smartphone to be online on the go". The website did mention that the III comes with the ability to be upgraded without buying a new Light Phone, meaning they could add something that could be useful in the future, but considering the website also said it "will never have social media, internet browsing, email, news, or ads" I doubt the online functionality Foxscribe needs, whatever it may be, will be added as an option, especially if these required resources include/involve a website for the university library or Google Classroom.Stefen_Maxwell wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 10:15 pmHave you looked at the Lightphone 3?
