There's an ad I hear on the radio now and then for an app that offers "cash back" when you buy gas.
Every single time, I end up yelling at the radio, "And what are you getting out of it? Nobody just hands out free money to people running daily errands!" Whatever data this app harvests has to be more valuable to its creators than however much it pays the people who use it. That's just business.
It's somehow even more offensive to me than online gambling/sports betting ads (which are my second least favorite, bumping "pharma ads" to #3). At least gambling ads are clear that you are gambling. This ad is very "ignore the man behind the curtain."
