Re: Journaling Techniques
I throw everything into a single-subject college-ruled notebook. I go through about one a month.
On the back/final page, I list what's in the notebook. This list usually gets made as I'm using the notebook. This month's has entries for "to-do lists," "blog/article topics," "journal," "work stuff," and "garden plans" so far. For each of the entries, I color the edge of the page on that line.
Then, as I use pages, I color the edge of the page on the line that corresponds to the line in the back of the notebook. So all the "to-dos" have the top space edge colored in, all the "blog/article" pages have the second one colored in, and so on.
If a page has something different on each side (say, a to-do on one side and a garden diagram on the back), I'll color in both line edges. So that page would have a colored edge on the first and fifth lines.
This lets me find stuff by category, both now and if I return to the notebook to look something up in the future.
