Re: Nintendo Switch 2
I'm super conflicted about the Switch 2, and it seems like a lot of people are. I think we all see the two biggest pros and cons, to some capacity, right? On one hand, it looks like the next generation of Nintendo titles are going to be absolutely stellar. Brimming with personality and inventive design the likes of which we may not have seen since GALAXY, and yet... 450 dollars for a console with 70-80 dollar games. I really cannot afford to miss out on this generation of games, but I also can't afford to not miss out on it too. It's a real twist, especially for people like me who don't make that kind of money to just up and dispense for something like that. What if it breaks? I'll just be stuck forking over another 400 dollars for a new one? But... If I don't, I will never get to see Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, and both of them look downright magical. It doesn't seem like they're backing down from the price either, so things are going to be difficult for a while. Here's hopes for some kind of miracle. I'm extremely divided on it, and I don't even want anything else right now. Tough.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2
I know this is probably an unpopular take, but the reason I don't want one is that it's too big. I normally use the Switch in handheld mode, and it's the perfect size for me. I really wish they'd put Wind Waker on the Switch 1 or even Switch OLED, I'd love to experience that game again, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the size of the console for that. There's other stuff mentioned here that I agree with, but if I'm being honest, the actual thing holding me back is the physical size.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2
I'm happy that the new Switch is out for the folks who want it, but personally I feel like it's not different enough from the first Switch to justify getting it. It's just a slightly better Switch. But my current Switch still works and I haven't 100%ed all of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe courses yet so I don't think I need to upgrade for a while.
But it could also be a lifestyle thing. I'm in a stage of life where it's hard for me to game a lot, so games and consoles last longer for me. Unless it's something that gives me a different way of playing games, like a VR headset or a Steam Deck, I don't see a reason to buy new consoles when my current consoles work perfectly fine and have good games out. I will probably treat it like a PC upgrade - it will take years and years and in the end something has to break.

It is hard for me to comment much about video games, for I play them so seldom. (World of Goo is the youngest game in my collection if I do not count visual novels.) Citric, your attitude towards consoles appears healthy. There is no reason to adopt something new when what we have already got suffices. It is one of the many reasons I keep this old computer, and this mood underlies many of my choices in declining to purchase things.
