I'm sure this video is great, but it's one of those that make me so sad I can't watch it. Not necessarily for the content the card networks moved against, but the idea that they have this kind of control over speech.

Great resource, thanks. As a game dev it's incredibly depressing to see itch especially fall to this. Especially knowing that this doesn't stop here.

I wouldn't say they "fell for it" as that implies it was a trick or they could have avoided it, but the fact is that payment processors were going to stop processing payments for itch altogether if they didn't make change. It's absolutely a horrible situation, but they didn't really have a choice in the moment cause from what I've heard payment processors tend to give very little turnaround time and will disable your payments anywhere from 2 weeks to indefinitely if you don't comply. Itch also added an FAQ to their post https://itch.io/updates/update-on-nsfw-content

Ah wording trouble; I said fell *to*, not for. Totally agreed on this; it's definitely on the payment processors, itch has just been a bastion of indie development and niche little games for as long as I can remember and I'm sad to see them get hit by this too. A bunch of people I know in the TTRPG space many of whom make a living off itch are almost certainly going to get hit by this, and I know that queer games and art are almost certainly next. Really sad stuff.

Yeah, this should straighten up not be legal at all. We should have anti-discrimination Laws for Business 2 Business Interactions. So that Company that do work in such Industries cannot be Discriminated against by other Companies by Providing Crucial Services. But Monopoly's and Oligopolies should also generally should not be legal.

Ohh yeah sorry, fully misread that. It also sucks to see how many people are getting mad at itch and telling them to "stand up against the processors" as if that's not putting the livelihoods of even more developers on the line tho since they have been, and still are the number 1 supporter of indie devs, it's all just bad in the end
