Re: Media Servers
I have been enjoying Jellyfin for many years. Plex is proprietary, so I never tried it.

Re: How does RSS work?
Yeah, RSS is just an XML file that describes a feed. You should be able to just put the feed URL into an RSS reader and that's it. Don't use some RSS service; just install an RSS reader onto your computer or phone.

Re: How hard is it to maintain this forum?
I think the big thing to remember there is that you're not the author of the underlying software. So long as you do your part to make sure you don't install software with known vulnerabilities and then keep that up to date, you shouldn't hold yourself responsible if there's a compromise.

Re: How hard is it to maintain this forum?
I ran a myBB like a decade ago and it's pretty simple. Most annoying part is going to be keeping things up to date for security purposes, but it's a good first self hosting thing to get into. It's one of the first things I ever hosted.

Re: Piracy.
I'm going to hazard a guess that it's because it's illegal and risks getting the forum shut down by authorities.
Also, I think this post belongs in the "Feedback" subforum with the other meta posts.

Re: Luanti (open source Minecraft)
