So I can Directly watch YT Videos in my RSS Player without ever entering the Website. Not even giving the Algorithm the Chance to catch me.
I quickly installed RSS Guard and tried it out because I too fall down Youtube rabbitholes. You have convinced me. Farewell Akgregator. :D

I have been trying out Newboat over the past few Weeks now, in conjunction to my return to Hyprland. And I really like it. The easy integration into other tool, like mpv is really easy. My only Pain point with it, is the Integration with FreshRSS, it does Sync that's not an Issue but the adding of Feeds I can now only do via the Page instead of the Client. But well it bugged on RSSGuard too every now and then so it was Pain Point there too. I think I'm going to stay on Newsboat for a while.

mimi wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 4:31 am I've been using Thunderbird's for some time now. It's really simple to setup and organize but I don't think it would be worth it if I wasn't also using it as an email client. I just like it better not having a whole entire app for every little thing (in some cases).

I've also been considering trying a terminal reader like Newsboat just because it looks fun but idk.
Another Thunderbird user here, migrated after Microsoft killed old Outlook with unified inbox, really enjoy having all my mails/calendars/rss stuff feed into one place.

Even in childhood, I thought to myself that RSS feeds looked like sad, drained versions of the sites from which they derived. I just check manually the sites I like according to their release schedules: Fanbox daily, Xkcd every few days &c.

I've gone with NewsBlur; works well enough for my needs, seems to have some pretty good features and can be self-hosted <3
