I really enjoyed the Video. The conversation of making Money with Projects Is always a problem. My recommendation for monetizing a Project would be to ask for Donations with unintrusive Donation ads for example (how KDE now does it for example.).

Also I think more YouTubers should say that they are not they're viewers Friends.

Finally will your YT Membership posts ever be accurate ? \j

Personally I've always felt really averse to doing sponsorships in my videos. I know a fair few people who do take them and that's absolutely fine with me, but I just want to share my creations for the sake of sharing them. My goal pretty much since I started has been to make money off of YouTube ads and selling my own games since it's a finished product people can hopefully get something out of, with no forced obligations to buy it if they're not interested. I find that a lot more comfortable than promoting some company where I can't guarantee any quality and I suck up a bunch of your time for it.

I absolutely agree with your position on the sponsors. I personally would take it one step further and say that advertisements almost always try to sell you something you did not need before. So, I would be suspicious of anything that is highly advertised.

The same goes for projects that need to be profitable. I know how it goes; I faced those same scenarios. Not everything has to be for profit, and nothing is inherently supposed to be for profit.
You are still fully in full right to offer a donation option, especially considering all the disclaimers you've included.

Considering the context of your channel and the topics you discuss, you might be interested in a project called https://comradery.co/p/whofor. It's a cooperatively owned platform alternative to Patreon. It seems relatively small, and the features are not that broad, but as one of the options, it seems really inspiring.

@rejectconvenience Ironically, it is usually those who are as based as you to reject sponsors who I would trust a recommendation from. If you change you're mind, all good with me, but also very cool for you to have been so intentional about the role you play in the lives of your viewers. More content creators should operate with the care and respect that you have.

Still, massively respect your decision. You can actually take sponsors, we (atleast most ppl) wouldn't mind.
