Like I said in the comment, it's not an actual projection of light, as that uses way too much calculation power that I don't have. Instead, the surface itself is what emits light! I have 2 materials on the screen, one is the white background, which is just a basic BSDF, and then the other one is the screen content, which blends the white background with the screen content. The darker the value, the closer it becomes that white surface, since that's how a real projector works. The darkest values will always be as dark as the environment around it, so it never appears as perfectly dark.
